Where We Eat & Drink

Stella’s Bistro

Jason & Julia Scholz’s delicious Southern bistro is our favorite: great Southern food, moderately priced, great service, lots of local meat and produce and the best charcuterie in town

Community Tap

So all of Greenville owes me a HUGE favor.  I personally talked C/T owner Ed Buffington out of opening a restaurant and he Mike Okupinski opted instead to do this.  The best Growler station in town, amazing selection of craft beer, an eclectic selection of wine, Wednesday night tastings and the friendliest, most enthusiastic staff in town

Tortilla Maria

Homemade yellow corn tortillas, local produce and meats, house made salsas, fresh cilantro and cane sugar Coke from Mexico.  What’s not to love about this place?  Um, let’s start with the fact he only has one table!  However, if they get enough biz maybe they’ll expand?

Grits and Groceries

You like the farm to table places?  This place is IN the farm!  Don’t ask me how Joe & Heidi pulled this one off.  This place is so out there they have latitude and longitude on their “directions” page but people line up for their breakfast, lunch and Saturday night suppers

American Grocery

Joe and Darelene Clarke’s farm to table brasserie in downtown Greenville.  If you’re buying, this is where we’re going.  Darlene really knows her wines.

The Lazy Goat

Probably our favorite of the Table 301 group, lots of Mediterranean inspired small plates, an eclectic wine list, a beautiful view, very good service.

Great Harvest Bread

So it’s a chain but it’s a damn good one.  I’m partial to the cinnamon chip scone and they have Tad Mallory’s West End Coffee.

The Bakery off Augusta

Having gone to some amazing bakeries in New Orleans, NY and SF, I promise this tiny little place off Augusta Road rocks!   That big place we’re all familiar with can’t hold a candle to these guys.   They make their own puff pastry dough at the Bakery.

Northampton Wine

Nick St. Germaine’s favorite wine bar, Richard and his staff have an amazing wine selection and wine knowledge.

Mojo’s Burgers

Counter service burger joint in Simpsonville and north Greenville that stands out because of their hand cut fries and onion rings and hand dipped shakes; however there’s always the possibility that some glutton will be at the table next to you trying to choke down the Mojo’s challenge (enough to feed a family of 6) in under an hour.

Five & Ten, Athens, GA

Hugh Acheson’s post-modern Southern restaurant has a funky Athens vibe and amazing upscale Southern farm to table food plus Hugh is as cool as a summer cucumber.

Barrington’s, Charlotte, NC

Bruce Moffett knows his seafood.  Barrington’s is charming, professional, vibrant and polished.  Dinner only.

Aria, Atlanta, GA

Gerry Klaskala’s oh so chic white table cloth is Buckhead cool at its finest.

The Liberty, Charlotte, NC

My old friend, Chef Tom Condron’s very cool Gastro Pub.

  1. Loved your food since Augusta Grill am working in Charlotte now but return frequently to Greenville loved the recomendations

  2. I have truly enjoyed and appreciated your recommendations since the days of the old website. I’d love to get your opinion of Vito’s pizzeria in Greer. IMHO this is the best pizza between The Flat Rock Bakery and Atlanta. Vito is originally from Milan and this pizza is the real deal with the perfect crust and light char on the bottom. Two huge slices and a drink is $5 for lunch. Adding meat is $1 extra and Vito is heavy handed with the prosciutto. I’d like someone without a Naugahyde palate to review this place to confirm I’m not crazy.
